Hurt Me

by Liza Flume

/

about

The self produced ‘Hurt Me’ is Liza’s first release since returning home and marks a shift in sound, trading in her guitar driven, indie-folk tone for a minimal and soulful production style. Hurt me, like all of Liza’s music is born from personal experience and is an excavation of the excruciating process of finding closure in a relationship that won’t quit. Her influences that include Kllo, Robyn and Billie Eilish intertwine to create a hauntingly sparse melancholic soundscape held together with a pulsing heartbeat that pushes the track forward. After years of deep diving into audio production, Liza is delighted to be releasing her first completely self recorded track and holds this one very close to her heart. Liza will be performing alongside her band in a string of shows around Melbourne.

lyrics

You know how I feel now,
My cards are all out on the table,
I don’t feel stable anymore.
And your silence is killing me,
Sleep with my phone right next to me,
It’s the only way I can feel close to you now.

My my my,  Here we go,
Round and round, Every time,
Hanging here in between,
This distance is killing me.

Hurt me, Hurt me, Hurt me
I just need closure because I want you closer.
Hurt me, Hurt me, Hurt me
So bad that I get closure because I still want you closer.

You need space now,
But what is there really to think about?
If you love me,
If you feel it,
It is simple,
Baby isn’t it?
But you’re already out the door,
Turn around and hurt me more,
I’m bleeding out, I’m on the floor,
Kick me when I’m down,
Does it turn you on?

My my my,  Here we go,
Round and round, Every time.
Hanging here in between,
But I just want you next to me.

You said that you’d never do me harm,
Here I am, I’m breaking down.
I wish that I could call my friend,
But you’re already gone, you’re already gone.
